Can I Collect Food?
Everyone is welcome at Transit. We collect only the details we need to serve people fairly, plan supplies, and keep the service running for the whole community.
Sit-down Meal Service
Join us for a warm, three-course meal every Monday and Wednesday — open to all, no questions asked.
Grocery Pickup: Who Can Access It
Because demand can be high, we prioritise those most in need using simple, fair criteria.
What we ask for
- Where you live: City of Casey, Officer, or Pakenham.
- Centrelink Income Statement: show on your phone or a printout. We do not keep copies. Once verified, it’s valid for 12 months.
Don’t meet these criteria but still need help?
Many people who are working, studying, seeking asylum, or experiencing homelessness still qualify. Please contact Lisa on 0484 986 466 — we’ll do our best to assist.

Why We Ask About Household Details
We keep questions minimal — for example, how many adults and children are in your household, your suburb, and how often you visit. This helps us:
- Plan food quantities so every household is fairly supported and we reduce waste.
- Understand community need (families, singles, older adults) to stock the right items.
- Report accurate totals to funders & partners — essential for keeping our doors open.
QR Codes & Lanyards: Faster, Fairer, More Discreet
Our check-in system is designed to protect your dignity while helping us stay organised.
- QR codes let us check you in quickly and privately without repeating personal questions.
- Colour-coded lanyards help our team quietly understand practical needs at a glance — for example, larger households or carers with young children — so we can prepare the right mix of items without asking sensitive questions at the counter.
Colours are simply an internal cue to tailor support; they are not a judgment or public label.
Our Privacy & Respect Promise
- All information is kept confidential and used only to organise, plan, and report service totals.
- We never share your personal data for marketing or external purposes.
- We collect information politely and quietly — your dignity matters as much as a good meal.
